The Toyota C-HR GR Sport, which gets re-worked suspension and some motorsport-inspired styling tweaks, is now on sale in the UK with prices starting at £31,395. In the same way as the Corolla GR Sport, the upgrades are closer to a trim level rather than the full Gazoo Racing overhaul a la GR Yaris, although the suspension tuning apparently offers “sharper dynamic performance.”
The C-HR GR Sport still uses the same 1.8-litre and 2-litre self-charging hybrid engines of the regular car but looks altogether meaner thanks to a host of styling additions, which include black trim around the headlights as well as the wheel arches and door mouldings. The grille has a dark chrome finish while the LEDs are dark -tinted, and there’s a new black rear spoiler. Black very much being the theme, then.
The C-HR GR Sport sits on 19-inch alloy wheels, and inside there’s even more additions of black trim, which includes a new upholstery for the seats and a perforated steering wheel with red stitching. GR-branded scuff plates and start/stop button complete the look. Heated front seats, LED headlights and rear privacy glass come as standard.
Upgrades to the suspension are less superficial, with stiffened front and rear springs for enhanced cornering sharpness, and the steering has been retuned to improve response and feel. The C-HR GR Sport is on sales now and costs from £31,395 for the 1.8-litre model, and £33,015 for the 2-litre.
