This is the McLaren Senna Ride-On, an electrically powered toy version of the British company's superlative supercar. And here’s a picture of current McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris in one, looking definitely happy to be fulfilling a contractual obligation. LOL.
The Senna Ride-On is the third toy car McLaren has made of late, following tiny versions of the P1 and 720S. It also follows Bugatti doing a similar thing last month when it launched a scale version of the Type 35, costing up to £64,000. Click here to read all about that thing.
Thankfully this one costs a little less than that: 375 quid, officially. Seems dirt cheap now, eh? And in fact it already looks like toy retailers are discounting them, like this one we found for £299.95.
You can pick from six colours – black, white, orange, blue, red and yellow, basically – and the last of those (pictured) is only available at McLaren car dealerships, special because it mimics the colours of Senna’s famous helmet livery. It’s electric, of course, powered by a 12v battery that gives it a heady 3mph top speed. Charging it takes eight hours, though McLaren doesn’t say how many minutes of miniature driving fun you can get from that charge.
Aimed at 3 to 6-year olds, the Senna Ride-On’s coolest feature is its dihedral doors, and it does appear very well finished for a toy car, including carbon fibre style trim, a leather style racing seat, push button start and working brake lights. It even mimics actual McLaren Senna engine sounds through a speaker system that can also be used to play music using an SD card.
What better way to spoil your kid?
