A new Lego challenge geared toward adults delivers something collectors have never been offered before.
McLaren F1 Lego kit.
The McLaren Formula 1 car raced by Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo is set to become the first highly-detailed Grand Prix machine produced by Lego.
The complex set is the first official F1 kit produced by Lego’s Technic department.
It has more than 1400 pieces, resulting in a 65 centimetre long model.
McLaren F1 stars Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris with the new Lego kit.
Recommended for builders aged 18 and up, the kit has tricky elements such as racing suspension, a rear differential and mid-mounted V6 engine.
But the most challenging elements from kits such as the Lamborghini Sian, including eight-speed transmissions and four-wheel-drive systems, aren’t part of the deal.
McLaren’s Mercedes-sourced V6 features prominently.
Instead, it replicates the look of new-for-2022 Formula 1 cars, down to covers for bigger wheels introduced this season, simplified spoilers and the “halo” safety device designed to protect drivers.

McLaren’s latest sponsors feature on the machine, which also bears a close resemblance to the 2021 model that Ricciardo drove to victory in last year’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
The McLaren F1 kit has working steering and suspension elements.
Priced from $280, the kit goes on sale at the beginning of March – in time for the 2022 Australian Grand Prix, set to be held in Melbourne on Sunday April 10.
