Following in the footsteps of sibling brand Kia, Hyundai is recalling approximately 215,000 Sonata sedans over a low-pressure fuel hose that may crack as a result of heat from the engine compartment.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2013-14 Sonata sedans. The fuel hose responsible for connecting the low-pressure fuel pump to the direct-injection fuel pump may crack over time due to excessive heat coming from the engine compartment. As a result, the hose could leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire.
Dealers will replace the hose for free to resolve the issue. Hyundai will begin notifying owners starting July 5, but those with further questions can call the automaker at 855-371-9460 (Hyundai’s number for this recall is 227), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
