Unveiled on the eve of the New York auto show, the 630-hp Huracán Tecnica fits in between the RWD and the track-focused STO.

The automotive world might be transfixed on electrification, but there’s a sliver of the market that needs another variant of the Lamborghini Huracán supercar. For that audience arrives the lithe and lightweight V10-powered Tecnica at this week’s New York auto show.
This mid-engine super-wedge is designed to slot in between Lamborghini’s RWD and the track-focused STO. The Huracán Tecnica, intended to be versatile for both road and track, shares its 5.2-liter V10 with the STO and comes to the party with 630 hp (at a screaming 8000 rpm) and 417 lb-ft of torque (565 Nm at 6500 rpm), good for a 0-62 mph sprint in 3.2 seconds.
Channeling power to the rear end is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission helping push the car to its top speed of 202 mph (325 kph).
“The Huracán Tecnica condenses Lamborghini’s design and engineering expertise to create the perfect fun-to-drive Huracán, as compelling when driving to the race circuit as it is on the street itself,” says Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. He describes the Tecnica as the brand’s next-generation rear-wheel-drive V10.
Its hybrid chassis made from aluminum and carbon fiber—along with an outer skin of aluminum and composites—contributes to a dry curb weight of 3040 pounds (1379 kg), with 59% of the weight biased toward the rear. Relative to the Huracán EVO RWD, the new Tecnica has 35% more rear downforce, while aerodynamic drag is reduced 20%.
The Tecnica’s LDVI (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata) system has been recalibrated with specific driving modes to leverage a specific suspension setup, rear-wheel direct steering, and brake-cooling improvements to allow a thrilling drive experience in any environment, the automaker says.
Carbon-ceramic brake discs measuring 14.9 inches up front and 14 inches at the rear are specially contoured and cross-drilled, with clamping force coming from six-piston calipers in front and four-piston jobs in back. The Technica, with its new Damiso 20-inch diamond cut rims and Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires, needs 103 feet (31.5 meters) to brake from 62 mph.
“The Tecnica ensures that the pilot enjoys the strongest connection to the car and asphalt, with the car’s potential always at his fingertips for ease of use in every driving mode and environment,” Winkelmann says.
Each driving mode (Strada, Sport, and Corsa) is calibrated for different responses to each environment. In Strada, the rear-wheel steering improves stability and maneuverability, complemented by torque vectoring for better lateral control and the Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS). This is for comfortable everyday driving.
In Sport mode, the rear-steer system enhances oversteer and allows a higher slip threshold for the P-TCS, while the powertrain becomes more sensitive to throttle inputs and gear shifts. Lamborghini engineers designed Corsa mode to awaken the driver’s racing spirit and respond to every driver input with extreme precision while the V10 roars. The powertrain is calibrated to provide optimized track-oriented throttle response and the fastest gearshifts, while the LDVI system is calibrated for maximum lateral and longitudinal grip.
Inside, the Tecnica gets a redesigned and exclusive driver interface, with a new instrument panel that emphasizes readability and a center console that places controls conveniently within reach for the driver. Connectivity functions include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa.
The Tecnica also offers a new interior trim in Alcantara microsuede, with additional exclusive options such as bold, contrast stitching and the ‘Tecnica’ motif embroidered into seat bolsters. Other options include lightweight doors, titanium wheel bolts, and harness seat belts for those heading regularly to the track.
