The crossover sports vehicle trend is already on the edge of becoming a confectionery. The Porsche 911 Safari is being prepared by the German company, and the Italians from Sant’Agata Bolognese do not want to be left behind in this ultra-exclusive market segment. In fact, testing on the 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato has already begun, as evidenced by these spy photographs from all angles.
Inverting these phrases is not the same as a sports crossover. The first concept relates to a higher model that does not reach the level of an SUV with a sportier definition, whilst the second concept refers to a model with very sporty genes and a crossover appearance.
This is a new market segment that is emerging, with the Porsche 911 Safari serving as its initial representative throughout the year 2022.
The Italians from Sant’Agata Bolognese are clearly not in the mood to hand over total dominance to one of their biggest rivals. And these first spy photographs of the anticipated Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato 2023 are confirmation of that.
The positive response it received when it was first presented as a concept in the spring of 2019 had left a mark, particularly on Maurizio Reggiani, the head of the Italian brand’s technical department, who did not officially confirm a production light but did rule out the possibility that later became a reality.
Given that the Huracán is nearing the end of its commercial life and will soon be replaced by a completely new model, there is no better way to give the Huracán a proper send-off.
As a prototype, the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato 2023 is already on the road.
Furthermore, the prospect of it being a mule has been ruled out, as the protection of the trade name “Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato” was leaked a few months ago in the European registry of names and patents, confirming even more, if fitting, that the arrival is more than real.
The prototype, which was captured during winter testing in northern Sweden, clearly exhibits details that are unique to a true crossover, such as the higher ground clearance, which is the most noticeable feature, as well as the modified front end, which features a conventional crankcase protection. It is now finished in black rather than satin chrome.
Even the bumper air intakes, which were designed two and a half years ago, nailed the anticipated concept. The Lamborghini supercar also has the roof’s longitudinal bars, as well as a brand-new feature: an intake air intake on the roof panel, which emerges from the back and was not featured on the Huracán.
A more off-road look will be present, as well as a reproduction with particular touches on the inside.
With the same engine as the Huracán Evo, the Huracán Sterrato will feature a particular chassis tune that will allow it to abandon its native environment and race on dirt circuits. There will be no changes to the naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine, which produces 640 horsepower.
It will be sufficient to perform in any situation, as it will not be meant to exert significant effort off the asphalt. The Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato will be available in 2023 as a limited-edition vehicle, with between 500 and 1,000 units being discussed, which is a more plausible figure for such a unique creation.
