Lamborghini Huracán (2014 – present) | Expert Rating [hide]

    Summary

The Lamborghini Huracán is a mid-engined supercar, available in coupe or Sypder (convertible) versions. It was revealed at the 2014 Geneva motor show and arrived in the UK later that year. In early 2019, the updated Lamborghini Huracán Evo was launched.

Like most Lamborghini models, there have been various special editions and performance models, the most important of which is the Lamborghini Huracán Performante. There will presumably be more of the same based on the upgraded Huracán Evo model.

The Lamborghini Huracán, in all its forms, has received very good reviews in general from the UK motoring media, although its review scores have not been to quite to the same level as its main rivals, the Ferrari 488 and McLaren 720S. The updated Evo is considered a significant improvement on the original version based on the initial reviews we have analysed so far.

As of October 2021, the Lamborghini Huracán holds an Expert Rating of 80%, based on 28 reviews.

Model reviewed: STIScore: 9 / 10“It costs over quarter of a million pounds and it does less than 17mpg. It can’t even do 200mph. But as a reminder of what we’ll be missing when the petrol-engined supercar is no more, the Lamborghini Huracan STO is, in its way, a masterpiece of timing and design.”

Model reviewed: Evo RWDScore: 9 / 10“The EVO RWD is the best Lamborghini Huracán yet thanks to a hefty price saving and not much of a performance deficit. It’s the sweetest-driving Huracán there is and the demonic V10 that partly defines the experience should be savoured.”

Model reviewed: Huracán Evo coupeScore: 8 / 10“Lamborghini has transformed its smallest supercar by fitting extra tech and the screaming V10 from a Huracan Performante. The Evo is perhaps not as clinical, well rounded or ultimately rewarding as a McLaren 570S, but it’s sharper, more accessible and even more exciting than before.”

Model reviewed: SpyderScore: 8 / 10“Compromised driving position aside, the right-hand drive Lamborghini Huracán Spyder is as sensational to drive as it is to look at. The noise alone is almost worth the £200,000 price tag, and the rest is pretty special too.”

Model reviewed: Evo RWD SpyderScore: 10 / 10“If you’ve missed hardcore Lamborghinis dry your eyes: the Huracan Evo RWD Spyder is here, swapping the security of the regular Huracan’s four-wheel drive for more traditional rear-wheel-drive thrills.”

Model reviewed: Huracan coupéScore: 6.4 / 10“The Huracan is the best car that Lamborghini has made for many, many years. As you’d expect, it’s fast, fun and flashy, but it can also be pretty civilised and it feels well put-together. Ultimately, though, it still trails its main rivals from Ferrari and McLaren for outright thrills.”

Model reviewed: Huracan Evo RWDScore: 9 / 10“That’s the thing about this latest Huracán: beyond the noise and performance, it’s more gritty and involving than typical Lamborghini fare, and the additional polish in the steering and handling add up to something special. Worth the wait, I’d say, and it shows what they can really do in Sant’Agata.”

Model reviewed: Huracán Evo coupeScore: 9 / 10“There are now many more reasons to buy a Lamborghini Huracán than there were a couple of months ago. The Huracán Evo uses its hardware and technology to make the car not only faster and more responsive in theory, but more rewarding and engaging in practice.”
