Eight years after the entry-level Italian supercar Huracan volumes exceeds ten times of that of the Countach
Lamborghini has announced it has celebrated the 20,000th Huracan supercar rolling off the production line at its famous Sant’Agata Bolognese plant.
Easily surpassing the 14,022 Gallardos made (over its ten-year lifespan) the 20,000 Huracan, a Grigio Acheso Matte-coloured STO, was achieved after just eight years of being on sale.
Up to now, Lamborghini says that 71 per cent of all Huracans sold globally have been coupes, with just 29 per cent Spyder mix.
The biggest market remains the United States, where more than 32 per cent of all Huracans have found homes.
Despite racking up impressive sales since being introduced (for the first four decades Lamborghini sold just 250 annually, the Huracan’s sales success still pales in comparison with the runaway Urus that has sold an incredible 15,000 units in the first three years of being on sale, through both a global pandemic and superconductor crisis. The Urus alone, now accounts for 61 per cent of all Lamborghini sales, making it a runaway success – not something that could be said for, perhaps, the Raging Bull’s most famous model, the Countach. Over the 17 years it remained on sale, Lamborghini sold just 1999 units of the original pin-up supercar.
If you’re wondering where Huracan number 20,000th will end up, Lamborghini said instead of being shipped off to a dusty museum it’s been sold to an undisclosed owner in the tax haven of Monaco.
