Sometimes the most valuable thing in a car is practicality. Having the space to fill it with people, Ikea furniture, or when used to help move house makes certain vehicles the prime tool to own. The Kia Sorento might be a model that’s son to be replaced, but its versatility has helped it secure Driver Power Car of the Year 2020.
The Driver Power Survey awards are voted for by new car buyers, something that allows people’s ownership experiences to dictate the winners. In the same way that YesAuto professionally road tests cars, such awards allow for informed buying advice. The Kia Sorento has just scooped the top prize, along with the ‘Interior and Comfort’ and ‘Practicality and Bootspace’ categories.
President and CEO of Kia Motors UK, Paul Philpott said: 'These wins for Kia are especially important to us as they’re voted for by our customers, people who live with our vehicles day to day. It’s also humbling to see a range of our vehicles praised for important and relevant ownership elements like infotainment and practicality. We as Kia Motors UK Ltd. alongside our dealer partners take huge pride in these awards and will continue to listen to our customers and deliver what they want.’
In addition to the Kia Sorento’s awards, other Kia model’s also collected prizes. The Kia Picanto won Best City Car, the Rio hatchback scored Best Supermini, with the Niro HEV claiming Best Small SUV and Niro PHEV winning Best Plug-in Hybrid. An impressive horde of accolades for Kia.
The all-new Kia Sorento modernises the marque’s seven-seat offering with a bold new design. Hybrid powertrains and a host of other technologies aims to retain the Sorento’s loyal following.
