When Linus Lundqvist hits the track next season with Chip Ganassi Racing, he will do so sporting the red, white, and blue livery of The American Legion.
The American Legion will be the major sponsor on the rookie’s car for most of the season, including for the Indianapolis 500, and will include the ‘Be The One’ branding that has been seen on track in recent years.
CGR and The American Legion have maintained a partnership since 2021, and the team has fielded a car with the organization’s branding for 28 races in that time.
Lundqvist will take on the extra responsibility of being an ambassador for the program throughout the 2024 season and will have a presence off-track as well.
“I’m incredibly excited to be partnering with The American Legion for the 2024 IndyCar season,” said Lundqvist.
“To move on to the next chapter and to be connected to the veteran community makes it even more special.
“A major thank you to Dean [Kessel, Chief Marketing Officer] and The American Legion for this opportunity. I am privileged to be able to represent such an impactful organization and I am looking forward to our work together with Be The One.”
The American Legion was Alex Palou’s primary sponsor last season during the Spaniard’s impressive drive to a second IndyCar title.
That sponsorship brought the organization considerable visibility on account of Palou’s five wins, and it’s no surprise the partnership with CGR is continuing into next season.
In addition to the sponsor shift, the press release confirmed that Lundqvist will be piloting the #8 entry, which was vacated by the departing Marcus Ericsson at the end of last season.
