Qualifying for IndyCar’s final oval race of the season took place on Sunday morning, after rain delayed the session from its originally scheduled time on Saturday.
Each driver completed two fast laps with the track to himself, and Scott McLaughlin ended the session with the fastest time. He completed his run at an average speed of 182.951 MPH, a hair faster than last year’s pole speed.
McLaughlin will actually start a few rows back from the tenth position, however, due to a grid penalty for an engine change heading into the weekend. His team-mate Josef Newgarden will inherit the front spot for the race.

Marcus Ericsson took part in a backup chassis after his crash in practice on Saturday, and was only able to manage the 18th fastest time.
The final oval race of the season takes place later in the day on Sunday, with the green flag waving at 2:30 PM Central Time.
