Replacing the Battery
Radio presets on older models may possibly be cleared out when terminals are removed. With some i20s, you may need to enter a security code, which can be found in the owner’s manual, to get your radio to work again. If you can’t find the code, then contact Hyundai.
Step 1: Open the bonnet and locate the battery.
Step 2: Remove the cover.
Step 3: Locate the bracket that holds the battery and loosen the bolts using a wrench.
Step 4: Remove the bracket.
Step 5: Loosen the terminal nuts. Then, using your terminal clamp, start with the negative cable first.
Step 6: Then loosen the positive cable. Once the cables are removed, ensure none are touching the battery.
Step 7: Grip the battery from the bottom and remove the old battery from the vehicle.
Step 8: Place the new/replacement battery in the tray.
Step 9: Using your terminal clamp, connect the positive cable first.
Step 10: Replace the bracket, then tighten the bolts that hold the bracket in place. (Do not over-tighten)
Step 11: Make sure the battery is secure.
Step 12: Replace the cover, and you’re done!
