- Short video shows Toyota Vios reaching end of production run in Indonesia
- Plant operation could be gearing up for upcoming D92A Vios
- Indonesia assembles Vios for domestic and export markets
As the news heats up about the upcoming successor of the Toyota Vios, a video shared on the Mobilgue Instagram page suggests that the current Vios has reached the end of its production run in Indonesia.
However, the undated, and unverified video is best taken at face value as there has been no official announcement from Toyota Indonesia or its subsidiary, PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia.

The approximately 10-second video shows a Vios body awaiting further assembly before the camera pans towards factory workers with a sign that reads “Thank you Vios”.
The next generation Toyota Vios will also be sold as the Yaris Ativ in Thailand
This leads us to believe that plant operation will soon gear towards the upcoming D92A all-new 2023 Toyota Vios which will be based on Daihatsu’s DNGA platform.
Toyota's plant in Indonesia assembles the Vios for both domestic and export markets.
The 2023 Toyota Vios takes some sleek styling cues from the 2017 Daihatsu DN F-Sedan Concept
Expected to debut in Thailand soon, the D92A (following Daihatsu's chassis nomenclature) will replace the current NSP 151 Vios launched here in 2021.
The current NSP 151 Vios was introduced in Dec 2021 and featured comprehensive styling updates to set it apart from the older NCP 150 Vios
Now the NSP 151 itself is a comprehensive update of the NCP 150 which was first introduced in 2013. Along the way, the model received a new engine and various other tech and safety updates to keep up with the competition.
The 2023 Toyota Vios will feature a stylish, redesigned cockpit reminiscent of the Corolla Altis
Thus, the D92A is the first “Vios” in a long while to be developed from the ground up.
We also know that the 2023 Vios is co-developed by Perodua and their partner, Daihatsu, as the latter formed an internal company with Toyota.
Note the similar steering wheel and gearshifter shared with the Perodua Ativa
The internal company is called Emerging Market Compact Car Company (EMCC) and they’re tasked with developing compact cars for the wider Toyota Motor group.
Toyota Thailand has confirmed that the D92A Toyota Vios is set for a debut on 9-August 2022. Indonesia will follow suit in due time so watch this space for more updates.
