Just in case you thought the standard model wasn't quick enough.
German tuner Vath has worked its magic on the already potent Mercedes-AMG E63 Wagon, creating a highly powerful sleeper with a supercar-slaying 867 horsepower.
This surfeit of additional muscle comes courtesy of several engine refinements, including turbochargers, a reworked intake system, and an uprated intercooler. Aside from this, the tuner has also equipped the menacing wagon with a new exhaust system to provide a throatier V8 rumble.
Finally, to ensure the nine-speed automatic transmission can handle the extra grunt, Vath has also added a transmission oil cooler to the package. As you'd expect, these additions have had a positive effect on performance. The 0 to 62 mph sprint is dealt with in a mere three seconds, while the top speed has been limited to 214 mph. With performance like this, the school run should be more fun than ever.
As a reminder, the standard E63 Wagon hits 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph. Hopefully, the all-wheel drive 4Matic+ system should keep everything secure and planted, but just to be safe, the tuner has also made a few tweaks to the AMG's handling.
Gone are the standard 20-inch wheels. In their place, you'll find Vath three-piece 21-inch wheels wrapped up in sticky Michelin rubber measuring 265 mm up front and 295 mm at the rear. Underbody struts stiffen the body up, providing superior handling. The suspension has also been lowered by 0.7 inches.
You'll be hard-pressed to notice any visual changes, but Vath has upgraded the styling with an in-house-developed front lip spoiler and a rear roof-mounted spoiler.
Interestingly, the tuner has elected to preview these upgrades on a pre-facelift model. We're guessing these updates will apply to the latest variant, but we're not sure about the visual updates.
The Vath-fettled AMG wagon has to be one of the most muscular out there, but it's not the most powerful we've seen. Florida-based tuner Renntech offers customers the option of having 1,017 hp and 873 lb-ft when running on 100 octane fuel.
There's no price for the upgrades, but we're guessing you'll have to fork over a substantial amount for the privilege.
