Ford has announced a range topping performance version of the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV, which will wear a GT badge and boast a 0-62mph time of just 3.7 seconds: equal to the Tesla Model Y Performance. The Mustang Mach-E GT will arrive towards the end of next year, featuring two electric motors – one on each axle – which produce 459bhp and 830Nm torque, helping it achieve a top speed limited to 124mph.
The GT’s energy will come from an 88kWh battery with a range of 310 miles per full charge, with a system which can adjust range prediction for a more accurate outlook based on the driver’s style and behaviour, as well as the weather. The GT also features adaptive dampers and sits on 20inch wheels with red brake callipers, while inside it gets a 15.5-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system. Ford also announced a long-range version of the all-wheel drive Mustang Mach-E which is capable of up to 355 miles range and has a 0-62mph time of 5.1 seconds, also in line with the long-range non-performance version of the Tesla Model Y.
Both models can be charged via the FordPass app, which allows easy access to around 30,000 charge points across Europe. Ford has also partnered with IONITY, which is building a network of 150kw charging stations. Using a 150kW dock, a rear-wheel drive Mustang Mach-E with an extended battery can achieve 73 miles of range in ten minutes.
There is no news yet on pricing for the Mustang Mach-E GT.
