MG’s popular HS plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), later renamed +EV, has been recalled due to a fault that could cause a fire inside the SUV.
The manufacturing defect pertains to a nut located under the interior carpet that could detach over time due to vibrations and “could cause the wiring beneath the floor to overheat and it may result in a fire inside the vehicle”, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) release.
In total, 5168 MG HS hybrids are affected, solid across 2021 and 2022, with a full list of Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) listed the ACCC website.
Owners are urged to consult with their nearest MG dealer for an inspection of the vehicle and a remedy, if required.
The fix will be free of charge.
