Preview sketches show off new-look Hyundai Venue light SUV ahead of full unveiling this month
The updated 2022 Hyundai Venue has been partially revealed by Hyundai India, with the light SUV looking as though it has hit the gym ahead of its unveiling later this month and an Aussie launch early next year.
Compared to the curvy, funky styling of the current model, the facelifted Hyundai Venue has adopted a much boxier design – a la the latest Hyundai Palisade – with a new rectangular grille, filled-out cheeks, redesigned lighting signature and a more rugged front bumper.
In some ways it puts us in mind of a Skoda Kamiq, albeit with a squarer nose and ignoring the familiar square daytime running lights.
And it’s not just the front-end that’s been revised; the creases and contours down the flanks of the Venue have been made deeper and more prominent, while at the back there’s an all-new full-width lighting signature.
The rear bumper has been toughened up by a contrasting silver skid plate-cum-diffuser element that matches a similar insert on the front bumper.
That contrasting theme is continued in the two-tone alloy wheel design, but the Venue has never been an especially fashion-conscious offering – especially when it comes to wheel designs.
According to Hyundai, the redesign is intended to “bring forth a wider and confident stance” and “supersede the aspirations of new age” customers.
“Designed to evoke a bold and premium appeal, the new Hyundai Venue will stand out with its solid presence that is inspired from Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language,” the company said.
Despite being one of the smallest cars Hyundai offers globally, the car-maker added that the new design is meant to “exude a bold and big persona”.
The interior is being kept under wraps for now, while the full unveiling is set down for June 16.
