The Palisade is Hyundai's flagship SUV, offering a spacious and luxurious cabin with no less than eight seats and top-of-the-range standard appointments. In this article, we list everything we think you should know about the Hyundai Palisade.
In this article:
Is the Hyundai Palisade a good car?
Hyundai has over the years acquired a reputation for producing high-quality and reliable vehicles and considering that the Palisade is a flagship model in their SUV, it is most certainly a good car.
Who is the Hyundai Palisade a good car for?
The Hyundai Palisade is a good car for larger families that require either the extra luggage space or additional seats the large and luxurious Palisade offer to its customers.
Is the Hyundai Palisade a good first car?
Considering that the model is filled to the brim with standard equipment to make navigating with the model much easier, it is not a bad model for first-time car buyers to consider. However, it should be noted that the large proportions will take some time to get used to and at its current price point, might be just out of reach for most first-time car buyers.
Is the Hyundai Palisade a good family car?
Providing a large, luxurious and tech-filled cabin with a host of standard safety equipment including six airbags, the Hyundai Palisade is certainly a good vehicle for families, even larger ones.
Is there a Hybrid Hyundai Palisade?
At the time of writing this article, the Palisade is only offered with a 2.2-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder diesel motor coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Korean automaker has given no indication that a hybrid derivative might be coming in the future, however, the current offering should prove ample with its 142 kW, 440 Nm of torque and claimed average fuel consumption return figure of 8.2 L / 100 km.

What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer’s opinion
We were surprised to note relatively high levels of cabin intrusion and wind noise, which is not excessive by most standards, but when viewing the Palisade for what it is, a large luxury SUV, we had expected a quieter ride. The ride quality and stability are areas where the product performed well though, with the long wheelbase and softly sprung suspension delivering the expected ‘big car’ ride quality.

What is the Hyundai Palisade like inside?
The interior of the Hyundai can be described in two words, spacious and luxurious. The cabin sees a host of premium trimmings as well as a high-quality sound and infotainment system fitted. Furthermore, the luxury feel extends to the upholstery as the seats, either seven or eight, are leather-clad and the door cards are finished in a combination of leather and glossy trim pieces.
Style
While upfront the Palisade shares the design language of most of the current Hyundai SUV and crossover ranges, from the B-pillar backwards, the large SUV takes on a very Americanized design, resembling products from manufacturers such as Lincoln and Cadillac. The interior offers a clean and simple design with just enough sophistication to set it apart from its siblings and its closest competitors.
