South Korean outlets have reported that Hyundai’s Palisade large SUV could go hybrid around 2025
The Hyundai Palisade could be going hybrid, but it looks likely that it won’t happen in its current LX2 generation.
Several overseas outlets have reported that it’s very likely that the next LX3 generation of Palisade will be available with both ICE and hybrid (HEV) powertrains.
South Korean publisher ETNews says the next Palisade will launch in early 2025. The new model was initially meant to launch at the end of 2024 but was delayed due to the development approval process.

ETNews says the new Palisade is likely to be powered by a new 2.5-litre petrol HEV unit that is due to replace the existing 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine due to stricter emissions regulations.
The outlet also states that the existing 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine format will be ever-so-slightly downsized to 3.5-litres of displacement and will use turbocharging, rather than natural aspiration.
Although Hyundai is due to release an electric Palisade-sized alternative – the Ioniq 7 – reports from overseas have stated that the Palisade could live alongside the Ioniq 7 as Hyundai gives buyers the choice, while it can, of multiple power unit options.

Didn’t Hyundai already dismiss a hybrid Palisade?
Yes, it did, back in August 2022.
Our last reports on the Hyundai Palisade hybrid situation indicated that it was extremely unlikely that a hybrid version of the current-generation SUV would become a reality, with Hyundai Australia’s Guido Schenken saying that “electrification is not for Palisade in this generation”.

This pretty much set in stone that the current LX2 generation would not receive any electric powertrain assistance.
Hyundai told Chasing Cars at the time it would be focusing its attention more on its next electric SUV product, the Ioniq 7, instead.
Although much is still under wraps, the Ioniq 7 with the same underpinnings as the upcoming Kia EV9 is likely to hit the market in 2024, however reports from Korea Times indicate that the Ioniq 7 could go on sale in the US as early as 2023.
