The eVTOL manufacturer Eve Air Mobility, which belongs to the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, announced three potential orders for the sale of a total of 150 of its electric air taxis.
Nordic Aviation is ordering 15 units from Eve Air as a fixed order and potentially 15 more. Eve signed a letter of intent with Widerøe Zero for up to 50 eVOTLs and with Voar Aviation for 70. The new agreements increase Eve Air Mobility’s (potential) order book to a total of up to 2,770 eVOTLs.
On the subject of the order from Widerøe Zero, Andre Stein, Co-CEO of Eve said: “This new partnership builds upon a previous MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signed between Eve and Widerøe Zero in 2021 at the UN Climate Conference (COP26), which aimed to develop eVTOL operations in Scandinavia.”
Eve Air will not only be providing the eVTOLs in this deal, as the aircraft manufacturer will also “provide comprehensive services to meet Widerøe Zero’s needs and specifications”. These include vehicle maintenance, as well as repair and overhaul (MRO), component repair management, spare parts management, battery lifecycle management, and data integration solutions. The support service will also expand beyond the vehicles themselves with operations solutions, such as training services, consultancy services, and on-site support for fleet ‘Entry Into Service’.
Furthermore, the partners announced that they will collaborate on the ‘Air Mobility Labs project across Norway’ which “will drive the development of future air mobility concepts tailored to regional needs”, in order to better understand the requirements for electric aviation.
With the deal with Voar Aviation, Eve Air is also active in the Brazilian market, which will likely increase its footprint in the eVTOL sector. When the ramp-up is complete, Voar plans to operate in the main metropolitan areas and popular tourist destinations, such as Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Goiania, Vitoria, Florianopolis, Camboriu, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, and Salvador.
