Mahindra and Mahindra’s legacy is its identity in many ways. In the past, we have discussed the Mahindra Thar based on their very own jeep DNA. But today, we have something even better. It’s the Mahindra Bolero Camper, a workhorse meant for hardcore offroading. The Camper comes built with basic auto parts so, it’s easy to maintain, unlike other advanced 4x4s.
Speaking of advanced vehicles, let’s take about the Toyota Fortuner. Well, it’s not any less when it comes to offroading and it too can take a beating. The Fortuner has proved its capabilities in the past as well. The vehicle based on Toyota’s rugged platform has defeated the Mahindra Thar in a tug of war. So now, our question is, can it stand against the old school Bolero Camper? Well, yes guys, you have guessed it right! It’s another epic tug of war battle between two mighty beasts, the new vs old kind of challenge.

The Mahindra Bolero Camper comes with a 2523cc DI turbocharged engine that can generate 62 bhp of power at 3200 rpm and 195Nm of torque between 1400-2200rpm
The mighty bolero comes with a 2523 CC DI turbocharged engine. This engine has the capacity to churn out 62 bhp of power at 3200 rpm and 195Nm of torque between 1400-2200rpm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed transmission. Now compared to the power figures of the Toyota Fortuner, it might seem mere. even so, let’s take a peek at the Fortuner’s power figures.
The Toyota Fortuner
The Fortuner has proved its ground in the past. It comes equipped with a 2.8-Litre Diesel engine. This engine has the capacity to churn out 201.15bhp of power at 3400rpm and 420nm of torque at 1400-3400rpm. Compared to the Mahindra Bolero Camper, the Fortuner has an upper hand thanks to its better power. For now, it is the winner on paper!

As usual, the boys get busy with prepping the two vehicles. After securing the rope tightly, the battle begins. Do note that the two vehicles are in 2WD driving mode. So the battle commences and the bolero as well as the Fortuner struggles. Both find wheel spins to be persistent and so, the first round ends up as a tie.

Round 2 begins with a twist as the two vehicles are now engaged in 4WD drive mode
Round two begins on a similar note but this time both the Fortuner, as well as the Bolero Camper, are in 4WD driving mode.

On the count of three, the battle begins and quite easily the Fortuner tugs the Bolero towards its end. Unfortunately, the Bolero loses this round, well, of course, it’s underpowered.
