Buyers of mid-size SUVs have another choice to throw in the mix with the arrival of the Renault Koleos Iconic Edition, a new flagship to the soon-to-be-discontinued French line-up.
Positioned at $48,990 drive-away for the 4×2 and $51,490 for the 4×4, the Koleos Iconic Edition sits well above the former Intens flagship ($46,000 before on-road costs and $48,500 for the 2WD and AWD respectively).
Befitting a range-topping grade however, the Iconic Edition is bundled with a long list of equipment, including Nappa leather interior (available in Sand Grey or Black), metallic paint, 19-inch alloy wheels, side steps, floor mats and unique exterior badging that encompasses a French flag on the B-pillars.
This is on top of the electronic front seat adjustment, heated and cooled front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, automatic headlights, a 7.0-inch driver display and an 8.7-inch portrait-style multimedia touchscreen with satellite navigation, as seen in other Koleos grades.
Powering the Iconic Edition is a carryover 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, punching out 126kW/226Nm via a continuously variable transmission.
Renault’s local importer, Ateco Group, has confirmed it will bring in only 400 units of the Iconic Edition, while the Koleos nameplate as a whole will not continue in Australia with a next-generation model.
It is expected the Koleos’ end-of-life will happen next year, meaning the Iconic Edition could be the last update the local market receives for the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson rival.
The current Koleos shares much of its underpinnings with the previous-generation Nissan X-Trail as part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.
