This Abandoned House Hides Forgotten Classic and Sports Cars

An abandoned property has revealed an astonishing collection of classic and sports cars, many of which have been left untouched for years. The vehicles, covered in dirt, mold, and rust, range from Japanese performance cars to European classics.

A Mix Of Forgotten Automotive Icons

The reason for the abandonment remains unknown, but the most likely explanation is that the owner passed away, leaving the estate unattended. The exact location has not been disclosed, a common practice among urban explorers to prevent looting. However, the yard appears to be near a busy road and is surrounded by inhabited buildings, and a video from the "The Bearded Explorer" channel on YouTube shows some gems rotting.

Among the discoveries are many vehicles that are still regarded as industry benchmarks. Some of the finds include:

  • Lotus Elise – the lightweight British sports car known for its handling and performance is now sitting covered in grime and debris.
  • Mercedes-Benz SLK (Kompressor) – The small and powerful convertible with a retractable hardtop is suffering from vegetation growth and years of neglect.
  • Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG (R171) – That’s a rare performance variant produced from 2004 to 2011, featuring a 5.4-liter V8 engine.
  • Toyota MR2 (MK1) – Someone really needs to save this first-generation MR2.
  • Toyota Celica (MK1) – Built between 1970 and 1977, this once-sleek coupe remains a desirable classic even in this neglected state.
  • Mitsubishi Pajeros (3 units) – Three rugged SUVs that look to have been stuck in the mood for years

In addition to the modern classics, the property also holds a few older treasures. These include a 1967 Triumph Herald 1200, of which less than 44,000 were made, a 1973-1975 Triumph TR6 with a 2.0-liter inline-six engine, and a 1973 Triumph GT6, which is perhaps the most well-preserved car in the collection.

Years Of Neglect And Urgent Need For Rescue

The Bearded Explorer

A check of the license plates reveals that most of these vehicles have been off the road for years, with MOT (Britain’s vehicle safety, roadworthiness, and exhaust emissions certificate) expiring between 2014 and 2022. However, a couple were deemed roadworthy as recently as late 2023. This timeline suggests that some of the vehicles were driven until fairly recently, while others have been sitting for nearly a decade.

While some of these vehicles are too far gone, others still have hope. The Triumph GT6, for instance, appears to have minimal rust, making it a strong candidate for restoration. The TR6, despite its flashy paint job, remains a valuable and collectible sports car. The Lotus Elise and SLK 55 AMG could also become prized collector’s items if rescued in time.
