The BYD Datang is expected to be priced from over 300,000 RMB and will pit it against the AITO M9 and Li L9 upon its launch. Recently, netizens exposed a set of undisguised exterior images of BYD’s all-new SUV from the Dynasty Network. From the spy shots, the new model will be officially named “Datang,” positioned above the currently available Tang L, becoming the new flagship SUV of BYD’s Dynasty Network. It is expected to be officially released in the first quarter of 2026. From the scene, the new vehicle has already entered the promotional photography stage. BYD Datang Spy Shots In terms of exterior design, the BYD Datang continues the “Dragon Face” aesthetic of the Dynasty family but features more dramatic and tension-filled adjustments. The front fascia adopts a split-headlamp layout, with the upper LED daytime running lights connected to the central trim panel to create a full-width effect. The high and low beam lights are positioned within the air curtain slots, forming a “horizontal and vertical” three-dimensional visual effect. From the side profile, the vehicle features obvious lengthening behind the C-pillar, paired with 21-inch multi-spoke wheels, showcasing the imposing presence befitting a flagship model. The rear features a large spoiler, with the license plate holder repositioned upward to the tailgate, complemented by a full-width taillight design. The overall style is clean and majestic. BYD Datang Spy Shots The most striking aspect of the BYD Datang is its overall dimensions, which far exceed those of the current Tang L. Reports indicate that the vehicle length is expected to surpass 5.2 meters, potentially reaching the 5.3-meter class. Notably, a previous spy shot happened to show a size comparison between the BYD Datang and the AITO M9 placed side by side. Visual estimation suggests the new vehicle is actually larger than the AITO M9. BYD Datang Spy Shots vs AITO M9 As the flagship SUV of the Dynasty Network, the new model is expected to feature the “Yi San Fang” (tri-motor independent drive) technology with rear-wheel steering. This technology was previously applied to the Denza Z9GT and can significantly enhance the handling flexibility of large vehicles. Additionally, technologies including the Yunian body control system and megawatt-level flash charging are also expected to be equipped. According to industry analysis, the BYD Datang will be priced above 300,000 RMB (approximately $43,000 USD). Upon launch, it will compete directly with the AITO M9 and Li Auto L9.
