BYD recently reached a key milestone in Australia, delivering its 100,000th new energy vehicle — a Shark 6 Premium. Notably, in mid-July 2025, BYD had just delivered its 60,000th vehicle in the local market. Only nine months later, cumulative deliveries hit 100,000. BYD officially entered the Australian market in November 2022 with its first model, the Atto 3 midsize electric SUV. Since then, its product lineup has expanded rapidly, now covering six battery-electric models and five plug-in hybrid models, spanning major segments from micro cars to large SUVs and pickups. Data shows that among the 100,000 new vehicles delivered, battery-electric vehicles account for more than 64,000 units. In 2025 alone, BYD sold 52,415 vehicles in Australia, up 156.2% year-on-year, breaking into the top 10 annual new vehicle sales rankings at eighth place. More notably, over 60,000 of the cumulative 100,000 deliveries were completed in the past 12 months. Entering 2026, the growth momentum has only intensified. As of mid-April, BYD has sold 17,541 new vehicles in Australia, double its sales from the same period in 2025. BYD Dolphin Beyond the 100,000-vehicle milestone, BYD’s long-term expansion in Australia is also advancing. According to Stephen Collins, Chief Operating Officer of BYD Australia, in a February 2026 statement, BYD Australia was the company’s top sales contributor in the Asia-Pacific region in 2025. The company plans to accelerate sales, aiming to launch seven to eight new models in Australia over the next year. Separately, BYD’s premium brand, Denza, launched in Australia at the end of 2025 and began deliveries of its B5 and B8 models. According to the plan, the Denza Z9GT will enter the local market in the second half of this year. On a global level, BYD has raised its overseas export target for 2026 to 1.5 million vehicles, up from an earlier 1.3 million, with Australia designated as one of its core growth drivers.
