BYD has made these solar solutions available to all consumers, regardless of whether they own a BYD vehicle or not. The standardised solar kit consists of eight 600 W photovoltaic components, providing a total installed capacity of 4.8 kWp. The package includes an inverter, supporting structures, cables, and connectors. BYD estimates that the system will generate an average of 600 kWh per month, depending on operational conditions and available solar resources. BYD has integrated equipment, installation, grid certification with power distributors, and a one-year insurance policy into a single contract. These components are manufactured locally at BYD’s plant in Campinas, São Paulo, according to Solarzoom. BYD Song Pro Flex. The launch coincides with the release of the new Song Pro Flex plug-in hybrid SUV. For customers purchasing the SUV via cash or financing through Banco Santander, the solar kit is available via a 36-month instalment plan at 512 BRL (100 USD) per month with zero down payment and zero interest. This offer excludes a financial operation tax (IOF) of 578.62 BRL (112 USD) and a registration fee of 1,149 BRL (250 USD). Customers who already own a vehicle – regardless of brand – can also finance the kit through Banco Santander, with monthly interest rates starting from 1.69%. The total cost of the kit is approximately 19,000 BRL (3,800 USD). According to 36kr, in 2008, BYD Solar was established, and in December of the same year, it invested 500 million yuan (75 million USD) in a polysilicon and solar cell project in Shangluo, Shaanxi. In 2010, BYD founder Wang Chuanfu officially designated new energy vehicles, solar power stations, and energy storage stations as the company’s three major new energy directions. Currently, the production capacity of the photovoltaic module line at BYD’s Campinas plant in Brazil has reached 0.5 GW, with cumulative production surpassing 2 million units as early as 2022. BYD Song Pro Flex The BYD Song Pro Flex (full name Song Pro Super-Híbrido Flex Fuel) is a plug-in hybrid SUV specifically tailored for the Brazilian market. The model is produced at BYD’s Camaçari plant in Brazil. The core feature of this model is its Flex Fuel technology, which allows it to run on three energy sources: electricity, petrol, or ethanol. According to BYD, the GL model has an all-electric range of 60 kilometres, while the high-spec GS model reaches 120 kilometres.
