The Denza N7 is an SUV coupe from BYD that now is ready for the mass production in China. Currently, only its EV versions were exposed by the Chinese MIIT. It has a handsome exterior design, up to 530 hp and a Blade Batteries from BYD. Moreover, the Denza N7 can be equipped with LiDAR sensors. Let’s get to know it better.
Denza D9 MPV
Our regular readers already know a lot of insights about Denza, but we will give a quick sum up about this brand for newcomers. Initially, Denza was founded back in 2012 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler. But, because of the low sales number, Daimler distanced from the JV in 2021, decreasing its share to 10%. Nowadays, BYD holds 90% of the stake and develop the Denza’s model line by itself. Currently, Denza comprises only one vehicle, which is the D9 MPV. But soon, the Denza N7 will accompany the D9.
Denza N7 basic information
The Denza N7 is the SUV-coupe, based on the Denza Inception concept car, unveiled in mid-2022. As we can see, the production vehicle’s appearance generally stays in line with the concept. There are actually few noticeable differences such as different bumpers and a taillight unit. We should underline that the Denza N7 can be equipped with two LiDAR sensors in the front bumper.
The Denza N7 is a mid-size SUV with dimensions of 4860/1935/1602 mm and a wheelbase of 2940 mm. In terms of sizing, it stays close to the Nio EC6. For clarity, it stays right between the BMW X4 and the BMW X6. So it is definitely not a small vehicle. Moreover, it isn’t a light vehicle at all. Its curb weight reaches 2,280 – 2,440 kg, depending on the powertrain. As for the gross weight, it lies in a range of 2,655 – 2,815 kilos.
The entry level Denza N7 has 235/50 R19 or 255/45 R19 wheels. The higher trim levels got 245/45 R20 wheels. We don’t know its exact ground clearance, but the N7’s approach and departure angles are 16 and 19 degrees, respectively.
Denza N7 powertrain
The entry-level Denza N7 has a single electric motor for 230 kW (313 hp), manufactured by Nanjing BYD Auto. It is TZ200XYC that also powers the BYD Seal sedan. And it is not a huge surprise since the N7 stands on the BYD’s e-platform 3.0. As for the top-trim level Denza N7, it has two electric motors with a combined power of 389 kW (530 hp). This version’s powertrain is also similar to the BYD Seal.
Speaking about the batteries of the Denza N7, they are LFP manufactured by the FinDreams Industry, a subsidiary of the BYD. Bearing in mind the N7’s electric motors are similar to the BYD Seal, its batteries may have the same capacity. So there are two possible options: 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh.
Since the Denza N7 showed up in MIIT’s catalogue, it is ready to hit the mass production in China. So it will be launched soon. We will keep an eye on it, so stay tuned!
