Jimmy Yu, 40, a general manager, is the first BYD Seal owner to hit the road in Singapore. We talk to the gentleman on the sidelines of the BYD Seal launch event at Changi Exhibition Centre.
What sealed the deal for you?
The dual-motor Seal is fast, attractive, and has good range. It also has a lot of safety features. This is my first EV.
How long have you been a motorist in Singapore?
I got my driving licence in 2004 when I was in university.
What other cars have you owned before?
My first car was a Nissan Latio sedan. Then a Toyota Altis and a Lexus UX200. I drove each of them for about five or six years.
What do you like about motoring in Singapore?
The road infrastructure is actually quite good.
What do you dislike about motoring in Singapore?
A lot of distractions, like pedestrians with earphones or on the phone. Cyclists, too. This is stressful for motorists today. When I started driving, there were fewer people walking around distracted, and also fewer drivers driving while distracted. Technology is a double-edged sword.
