- The 2022 Toyota Sienna is the slowest minivan on the market right now
- The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica is the fastest but also the worst
- These two minivans tied for first place in the segment
Minivans like the Chrysler Pacifica are well-known for their size, comfort, and safety. But few minivans are known for their speed. That said, speed it can be a handy thing to have in a car. However, in terms of minivans, the fastest minivan is also the worst in the segment. Here’s a look at the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica and why it’s the worst minivan in the segment, but the fastest.
The 2022 Toyota Sienna is the slowest minivan on the market right now

According to Consumer Reports, the Sienna is still an excellent minivan option that has a relatively similar score as most other minivans in the segment. That being said, the Toyota minivan won’t be cheap, as it starts at about $35,000. This makes it the second most expensive option in the 2022 model year, but the main reason for that is its engine.
Recently, Toyota gave the Sienna a hybrid engine as standard, and no other engine options are available. As a result, the Sienna has a much better fuel economy than the standard version of every minivan in the segment, as it gets about 36 mpg combined. This is thanks to its 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid paired with a CVT. This engine gets 245 hp, which only allows it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds.
The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica is the fastest but also the worst
The Pacifica, on the other hand, is unique as it’s the only one not to be recommended by Consumer Reports. Its overall score was much lower than the other minivans. This made it the worst minivan option right now. On top of that, the Chrysler minivan is also the most expensive option, as it starts at about $37,000.
In terms of powertrains, Chrysler offers two options. The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 287 hp, and the optional engine is a PHEV version of that same V6. The hybrid version only gets 260 hp, but its fuel economy significantly improves. Since the Pacifica can be a PHEV, it can also go 29 miles in battery-only mode. The problem, of course, is its price tag. The Pacifica PHEV starts at about $48,000.
But if folks stick with the standard V6 engine, they’ll still get a minivan that gets 21 mpg combined. On top of that, the standard V6 will allow the Pacifica to be the fastest minivan in the segment right now. Its 287 horses allow the Chrysler minivan to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8 seconds. This is slightly faster than the other minivans in the segment.
These two minivans tied for first place in the segment
Consumer Reports wrote that two minivans are tied for first place in the 2022 model year. The first is the Sienna, and it’s tied with the Kia Carnival. The newcomer from Kia starts at about $32,000. It doesn’t come with a standard hybrid engine as the Toyota minivan comes with, but it still has a capable 3.5-liter V6 which gets 290 hp. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph at about the same time as the Sienna can.
Currently, Kia doesn’t offer a hybrid powertrain for the Carnival, and V6 is its only engine option. As a result, its fuel economy is average, as it gets about 21 mpg combined. However, Consumer Reports said that the Carnival drives very well, and its interior comfort quality is pretty good across the board.
