The highly anticipated EV will go on sale later this year.
General Motors has some important news; the first 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV just rolled off the assembly line at the GM Ramos Arizpe Assembly Plant in Saltillo, Mexico. Photos of the first unit, pictured below in a beautiful blue, were shared by factory workers on the plant's unofficial Facebook page. In addition to the blue Blazer, the plant also built a few others, as evidenced by other photos posted on the account.
At least three Blazer EVs have been built, including a white and a silver one. All three examples are the RS trim, which is second from the top model positioned below the SS with 557 horsepower. The RS is perhaps the most interesting Blazer EV trim because it's the only one available with front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive, and all-wheel-drive.

The base Blazer EV 1LT will travel 247 miles on a charge, while the RS boasts the longest range in the lineup of 320 miles. Chevy has yet to quote battery sizes but says the Blazer EV should support up to 190 kW charging. The 2LT and RS will be the first trims to go on sale in summer 2023, with prices starting at $47,595 and $51,995, respectively. Chevy will bring out the SS later in the year, starting at $65,995.
Getting the Blazer EV into production is a big deal for GM. The American giant has struggled with EV production as of late, only delivering two Hummers in the first three months of 2023. Meanwhile, the company's only EV with mass market appeal is not long for this world.

The Blazer EV is crucial for GM because it will soon be the company's most affordable EV until the Equinox goes on sale in 2024. Sadly, the affordable Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV will die off at the end of this year, eliminating the most affordable EV on the market.
Last year, GM only managed to build 854 units of the Hummer EV Pickup and 122 units of the Cadillac Lyriq, both of which are assembled in the USA. GM hopes its Mexico plant will significantly exceed its previous EV production for this more mass-market vehicle.
