If you’re stuck inside during the coronavirus lockdown and are looking for something to occupy yourself, salvation may come from Lotus. The British marque is well known for its benchmark-setting chassis development that makes its cars handle so well, but a new podcast aimed at enthusiasts is proving just as popular.
Called ‘US LOT Sessions’ – an anagram of Lotus – the podcast was originally designed for internal listening by employees. The now public show see special guests join each week to talk about all things Lotus. These episodes were recorded prior to the COVID-19 crisis, but Series 2 is already in the works.
US LOT host Rob Borrett, who is also Lotus’ PR Manager, said: ‘With exciting new products such as the Evija all-electric hypercar on the way, Lotus is on an amazing journey. But as a Communications team we’re severely restricted in telling that story at the moment. So I thought we should expand the US LOT podcast platform that we launched last year for our employees, and so the US LOT Sessions was born.’
Season 1 guests include legendary Lotus test driver Gavan Kershaw, TV’s Wheeler Dealer host Ant Anstead, Magnus Walker, journalists Matt Farah and Alex Goy, Helen Stanley and Ant Partridge, as well as automotive photographer GF Williams.
Gavan Kershaw’s commentary on testing handling dynamics at over 120mph at Lotus HQ in Hethel is a real treat for Lotus fans. As well as developing Lotus cars for over 30 years, he also designed Top Gear’s famed test track.
The US LOT podcast is published twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can listen to it via all the usual podcast providers; iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, and Stitcher.
