The creamish colour in the interior makes the car look expensive and airy.
Finally received my Nexon EV LR Empowered+:
Booking process:
Booked via nearest Tata showroom on the day when bookings opened. Gave Rs. 11000.
I was pleasantly surprised to know from SA that I will receive it in around 1 week as it is in transit. There was a family function on 25 Sept, so pushed Sales Advisor to deliver on 24th. Car reached showroom on 24 and we went there to do all the paperwork done. We had booked a fancy number. We were told that it would be difficult to get the car on 24 due to fancy number. Fee had to be paid on the portal before we can get the car. It then got deferred to the next day.
We told the SA that if we don’t get the car by 1 pm, we won’t take the delivery. He said it will be fine. We reached showroom aapne 11. The guy who had to take the file to RTO office, went there at 12.30. However we were conveniently told that he went before we reached Showroom. Then it was lunch time at the RTO office.
Finally when we escalated the issue, we came to know that it was possible to get the car without getting the RTO fees paid since we have the number allotment letter. We finally received it at 4:30. Nd we were late to a function at our home
Now about the car.
Design:
Tata Motors have exceeded the expectations this time. What a car they have made this time. Everyone at my home and office just loves how it looks.
Fit and finish issue is like the lady love of Tata motors and it is there to stay.
Interiors:
The creamish colour in the interior makes the car look expensive and airy. However, it would require a lot of regular cleaning. No more momos chutney on the seat now
The screen is just so lovely. Quite responsive and picture quality is great. And on top of that the audio quality is sublime. I am planning to watch a movie in the car itself due to the theatre like audio experience that I will get there.
Ventilated seats are such a refreshing addition.
Driving experience:
This is the first time ever I drove an EV and I didn’t feel like driving an alien tech.
- The smooth and linear pickup is just awesome.
- I feel city mode is just perfect. I can sedately drive around the city and the power is there for those quick overtakes.
- Sport mode is there to satisfy your adrenaline rush. Once in a while just do pedal to the metal and you will have fun. Also, a good way to teach kids Newton’s law of motion
- I started off with regen level 1. However by the time I reached Gurugram from Delhi, regen level 3 had become my best friend in the traffic.
- Now I drive in regen level 2 in moderate traffic and regen level 3 in stop start traffic. This is only keeping comfort in mind and not the range.
Range:
Now addressing elephant in the room
I am getting a range of 280km while driving in traffic. And by traffic I mean an average speed of 15- 20km/hr, with AC on all the time. Average power consumption being 145wh/km.
Didn’t get a chance to drive in better conditions, but will update when I do. However, I saw significant drop in Power consumption while driving at 70km/h for 5 km. It went from 145 to 138 wh/km in just 5 km for a trip of 40km.
