Black trim has become a quite popular option in the luxury car segment. Bentley is already offering the Blackline specification for its full range including the Flying Spur limousine, the Bentayga SUV, as well as for the Continental GT and GT Convertible grand tourers. Since 38 percent of Conti GT orders get the Blackline treatment, the British firm took a step further by presenting the even more exclusive Mulliner Blackline specification.
The Mulliner Blackline is currently available for the Continental GT and GT Convertible models, replacing all of the shiny chrome trim – excluding the Bentley badge – with black ones. However, the Mulliner Blackline can be distinguished from the regular Blackline thanks to the bright edges on the grille’s black bezels, similar to the pattern on the Mulliner-badged side gills. Furthermore, unlike other Mulliner models that have satin silver mirror caps, here they are painted in gloss Beluga black.
The black 22-inch wheels feature self-leveling Bentley badges and a chrome ring while in the near future the company will be offering a lack Mulliner wheel with polished pockets. As you would expect, the variety of colors combinations offered for the two-door Bentleys is limitless, although Mulliner does recommend eight three-color combinations in order to make life easier for prospective buyers.
Inside, we find the signature “Diamond in Diamond” quilting for the seats, doors, and rear quarter panels. The level of detail is exhibited by the fact that each diamond contains 712 stitches aligned towards its center, with a total of around 400,000 stitches all around the cabin.
The Mulliner Continental GT and GT Convertible are available with either the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing 542 hp (405 kW / 550 PS) or the twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 producing 626 hp (467 W / 635 PS).
To date, Mulliner has hand-built more than 1,000 cars, personalized according to the taste of their owners. These are included in the Bentley Mulliner Coachbuilt program for limited-edition models like the Bacalar, the Bentley Mulliner Classic for revisiting older models like the Blower Continuation Series, and the Bentley Mulliner Collections for luxury-focused derivatives of Bentley’s core range.
