Bajaj Auto has announced its plans to take over all sales and service operations for Triumph Motorcycles in India. Furthermore, the first motorcycle under this updated partnership is expected to be launched in a few months.
Speaking about Triumph India, its operations will now come under Bajaj’s Probiking headed by Sumeet Narang. As such, Shoebh Farooq who previously headed Triumph’s India operations will be leading Chetak Technology (Bajaj’s electric mobility division).
It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle has been spotted testing a few times in India. However, this motorcycle has been developed by Triumph’s R&D division in the United Kingdom.
That being said, the exact details regarding this new Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle are yet to be known, but it is well-known that the production of this motorcycle will be handled by Bajaj.
Looking at the spied images, the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle will sport a single-cylinder engine with liquid cooling and we expect this motorcycle to come with an engine capacity anywhere between 300cc to 450cc.
Coming to the design, the spied images reveal that the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle sports a neo-retro theme with its ‘tear-drop’ shaped fuel tank, dual-purpose tyres, knuckle guards and a small transparent windscreen above the headlamp.
Other noticeable design traits include a triangular engine casing, tank pads, round LED headlamp, round LED turn indicators, round rear-view mirrors, a minimalist tail section with LED tail lamps, dual canister exhaust with a slotted heat shield, and black multi-spoke alloy wheels.
It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle is likely to sport USD forks at the front and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. Also, the spied Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle seems to sport an aluminium swingarm at the rear.
Since the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle will compete against the likes of motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan, Yezdi Adventure, Suzuki V-Storm SX, etc., Bajaj Auto has planned to expand Triumph dealerships to 120 cities (up from 15 cities).
Thoughts About Bajaj Taking Over Triumph’s Operations In India
Though Bajaj takes over Triumph’s sales and operations in India, it will be run independently and Triumph showrooms will remain exclusive to the brand. On top of that, Baja has also stated that the newer showrooms will be created in line with Triumph’s global standards.
