Joylong has launched its E6 electric bus in Australia, which will set buyers back $90,000 before on-road costs.
If the Joylong E6 looks a bit familiar, it’s because it cribs much of its design from the early 2000s-era Toyota HiAce – though the brands do not share a professional arrangement.
Regardless, the E6 features a boxy, van-like design with a left-hand-side sliding door and enough seats to accommodate up to 14 passengers.
A 12-seat version is also available, which is the maximum number of passengers that can be carried with a standard driver’s license.
Up front, chrome detailing can be seen, while 16-inch wheels fill out the E6’s wheelarches.
With an 86.1kWh liquid-cooled battery installed, the E6 can travel “around 300kms” and features a highway range of “around 280kms” under full load, according to Joylong.
The E6 features AC charging, but Joylong has yet to divulge how long the electric bus needs to juice up.
The electric motor produces 60kW/382Nm, with drive sent to the rear wheels and, according to Joylong, the E6 is “capable of reducing day-to-day fuel costs by up to 60 per cent”.
Measuring nearly six-metres long, the E6 is equipped with front and rear climate controls, touchscreen multimedia system, electronic side step for easier ingress/egress, foldable rear seats, six-speaker sound system and privacy glass.
For safety, the E6 comes equipped with ABS, EBD, front and side intrusion bars, front airbags and a revering camera.
