You can spot those who are serious about racing simulators by the rig set-up that graces the gaming room. Rather than a pathetic controller or joypad, dedicated virtual racers fashion a cockpit that includes realistic pedals, a force feedback steering wheel and even a gearstick to shift virtual cogs with.
Aston Martin understands the importance of eSports after the recent pandemic forced many of its star drivers to turn to simulation races after their real-life counterparts were swiftly cancelled. With that in mind, the British marque got creative and the AMR-C01 is said to be the ultimate luxury home simulator for drivers who want to compete in the virtual or the real world and the first of its kind to be offered by the company.
Designed in conjunction with simulator experts Curv, the flashy rig features a lightweight carbon fibre monocoque and the highest quality components, while the latest virtual racing Assetto Corsa software is pre-loaded and ready to go.
Aston Martin works driver, Darren Turner, was also on hand to deliver his input, claiming that his team “modelled the driving position on the Aston Martin Valkyrie so users of AMR-C01 can get the full hypercar experience”. The gorgeous games room adornment will set customers back £57,500 plus taxes and just 150 units will be made.
But then again, the AMR-C01 racing simulator is marketed towards those seriously considering buying a Valkyrie, so the king price should represent a drop in the ocean.
