We all know that hypercars are built differently, both figuratively and literally, but it's still shocking when you see things like the recommended maintenance for a car like the upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie. This upcoming F1 car in road car guise unsurprisingly has a pretty rigorous maintenance schedule that, among other things, will require a full transmission rebuild at only 31,000 miles.
Now, for someone who can afford the $3,250,000 hypercar, there most likely isn't any amount of maintenance that would make them raise an eyebrow, but it is a nice reminder that these vehicles are closer to a modern-day LMP1 car than they are to the Toyota Camry.
As for the rest of the maintenance for the Valkyrie, you're looking at things like replacing the oil, oil filter, and drain plug for the transmission every 6,200 miles along with normal oil changes every 3,100 miles. You will also be replacing the brake fluid every 12 months, the fuel drive unit after only 31,000 miles, and the rear half-shafts every 62,000 miles.
Then you must replace the alignment straps for the seat harnesses every 12 months, replace the seat harness every five years, and also replace the center lock wheel nuts and cones every 6,000 miles of every five-wheel changes.
This isn't even half the list in the owner's manual, too. The thing that really gets us is the recommended service every 3,100 miles OR 12 months because even Aston knows that many owners of these vehicles are going to rarely if ever drive them, and even with consequences, others will inevitably store them away in the hopes of making a profit on the cars in a few years.
Let's just say that an owner does want to use their vehicle though, especially as intended taking it to some track days because it is a 1,140 horsepower hypercar with a 10,500 rpm redline. In that case, you can expect most of these parts and more to need to be replaced much more frequently, with the owner's manual recommending just calling the Aston Martin dealer to get a better idea of what that means.
But to be fair, owners who are used to the rigors of owning vehicles like Bugatti Chiron Pur Sports probably welcome rigorous maintenance with open arms. The bigger issue may be speccing out the car in the first place, as we saw recently that it can be a rather stressful and difficult decision to make.
