The DBX707 remains the most powerful production SUV until the BMW XM shows up that is.
Aston Martin has lifted the covers off its world’s most powerful series-production SUV dubbed, rather appropriately, the DBX707.
To address the big elephant in the room; yes, the Aston Martin DBX707 houses an AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that pumps out 520 kW or 707 horsepower hence the ‘707’ designation. This is the same engine that powers the standard DBX but the full potential of the V8 was made possible by fitting ball-bearing turbos as well as undertaking bespoke engine calibration.
The engine is now wielded to a 9-speed ‘wet-clutch’ automatic gearbox that helps catapult the Aston Martin DBX707 from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds.
Stopping power is provided by standard carbon-ceramic brakes that measure 420 mm in front and 390 mm at the rear axle. The brakes are gripped by six-piston callipers that help shed 40.5 kg in unsprung weight while also improving pedal feel and braking response.
The road patches come courtesy of 22” alloy wheels as standard. They are offered in a choice of Sport and Ribbon designs while the optional 23” can be had in either textured black or satin black with diamond-turned highlights.
On the other hand, the Aston Martin DBX707 also features a new version of the electronic limited-slip rear-differential that has been strengthened to handle 900 Nm of torque.
The interior of the new Aston Martin DBX707 now features a reworked lower console that consists of new drive mode selection switches in the form of dedicated buttons for suspensions, ESP, manual gear selection and an active exhaust switch.
As standard, the Aston Martin DBX707 is fitted with Sports seats with Comfort seats available as a no-cost option. Both options boast 16-way electric adjustment plus heating in front and rear as standard.
Buyers can choose between three choices of interior environments; Accelerate, optional Inspire Comfort and Inspire Sport. As standard, the DBX707’s interior features a dark chrome finish to switchgear while bright chrome and carbon fibre can be had as an option.
Piano Black veneer is standard with carbon fibre or bronze metal mesh veneer finishes available as an option.
On the outside, the DBX707 has a larger grille as well as an all-new design of the daytime running lights. The front is further fitted with new air intakes and brake cooling ducts plus a new front splitter profile in gloss black.
The front grille is finished in satin chrome and features double vanes, six horizontal bars, as well as window surrounds finished in dark satin chrome. There are new louvred bonnet blades plus a splitter.
The rear is bolstered with a new lip spoiler, enlarged twin rear diffuser, a new large-diameter quad exhaust system finished in satin black. There’s a new bumper with integrated quarter panel vents.
Buyers who would like to add more charisma to their DBX707 can do so via the Q by Aston Martin, the brand’s service for personalisation. This opens a wide range of colour options and tinted carbons for both interior and exterior applications.
The Aston Martin DBX707’s production is due to begin in the first quarter of 2022, with first deliveries scheduled to begin shortly after that.
