The Bangkok International Motor Show is perhaps the most resilient motor show in the world, weathering several bouts with the financial crisis, political unrest, and the recent pandemic; having continued on in 2020 and 2021. According to the organizers, the event was even able to attract 1.049 million visitors in 2020 and 1.34 million in 2021, having booked 27,868 car reservations; they are expecting to do better this year.

“In 2022, the automotive industry of Thailand is now starting to recover after encountering the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak for approximately 2 years. This year, the government sector has forecasted that the production of cars and motorcycles in Thailand will increase compared to the previous year after many countries in the world can control the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes people return to live a normal life and the economy can move forward again,” said Dr. Prachin Eamlumnow, Grand Prix International PCL CEO and Chairman of The 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show.

Participating automotive brands at this year’s Motor Show are Ford, BMW, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Great Wall Motors, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Maserati, Peugeot, Jeep, Toyota, Lexus, MG, Mazda, Suzuki, Isuzu, Hyundai, Audi, Honda, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Volvo, Porsche, Bentley, Kia, Subaru, and TAKANO.

Some vehicles to look out for are the following; All-new Ford Ranger Raptor, Audi e-tron, Audi e-tron Sportback, Audi e-tron GT, BMW iX, BMW iX3, BMW i4, Lexus UX 300e, Mercedes-Benz EQS, MG EP Plus, MINI Cooper SE, Nissan Leaf, ORA Good Cat, Porsche Taycan, Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, Volvo XC40 Pure Electric, Volvo C40 Pure Electric as well as other electric models, which will be revealed at the event itself.

“In the meantime, the automotive industry of Thailand is preparing for a major technological transformation from the internal combustion engine technology to the electric drive technology. Moreover, it receives support from the government sector in terms of production for domestic use and international exportation in the future. Therefore, this is another time that The Bangkok International Motor Show plays a significant role in driving the automotive industry of Thailand by presenting a variety of electric cars and electric motorcycles as well as a special zone to display the technology of the future on the exhibition of 170,960 square meters. It is well guaranteed that the Bangkok International Motor Show is the leading automotive show in Southeast Asia,” added Dr. Prachin.

The new EV Smart City zone aims to raise awareness of zero-emission and ultra-low emission vehicles. There will be a display of battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) with 8 models from the leading manufacturers, such as BMW, Great Wall Motor, MG, MINI, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, and Volvo.

“The 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show is the year of electric vehicles because the car and motorcycle manufacturers will be displaying their electric vehicles for over 20 models. Besides, Arun Plus Co., Ltd., an affiliated firm of PTT will be joining for the first time to present the future of electric vehicles in Thailand as well as introduce the virtual reality technology or Metaverse in collaboration with Finn Solution Co., Ltd. for visitors who are interested in buying a car to try an interactive drive through their mobile phone, which will create a new experience to visitors,” said Mr. Jaturont Komolmis, COO of Sales and Marketing, Grand Prix International PCL and Vice Chairman of the 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show.

For those who are interested in motorsports, the organizer will be showcasing Honda City Hatchback; the racing car from the racing event dubbed Honda City Hatchback One Make Race. Moreover, there will be digital motorsports activities in the GP eRacing booth. There will also be a Grand Prix Motor Park booth and a souvenir zone of the brand ROD that will have original and limited products available for visitors to buy.

“A racing event has always been a part of Grand Prix International PCL. In the previous event, the company has organized the Honda City Hatchback One Make Race for the first time, which receives good feedback from the racers and audiences. Moreover, we have expanded our business to digital motorsports by forming GP eRacing, which started in 2019. We also have Grand Prix Motor Park, the landmark of comprehensive outdoor activities in Kanchanaburi province under our supervision, and we will introduce the souvenirs under the brand ROD, which is specially produced to distribute for the first time at the Bangkok International Motor Show this year,” said Mr. Anothai Eamlumnow, COO of Business Development, Grand Prix International PCL and Vice Chairman of the 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show.
