Here's what we can expect from the modernized Italian icon.
A small Italian company is preparing to resurrect the iconic Lamborghini Diablo restomod project. Eccentrica Cars is keeping its cards close to its chest but has shared some details about the exciting endeavor, in addition to some shadowy teaser images.
Getting straight into the details, the 5.7-liter V12 will be heavily revised with a lighter crankshaft, performance camshafts, and larger valves. The 12-pot will benefit from a new intake system with four throttle bodies instead of the usual two, and a racing exhaust is part of the package. Eccentrica Cars is aiming to hit the 600-horsepower mark, making the Diablo restomod nearly as powerful as the outgoing Huracan Evo.
These vehicles will retain the original five-speed manual gearbox, but the company has developed new ratios for the transmission. On the handling front, the braking system will also be upgraded, while the suspension is set to receive new dampers and springs, giving greater control over the unwieldy Diablo.
A lift function will enable drivers to enter steep driveways without fear of scraping the Lambo's nose.

But it's not just performance that Eccentrica Cars is interested in. Based on the teaser images above, the Diablo restomod will receive new styling cues but retain the overall shape that makes it so iconic.
Sadly, the wonderful pop-up headlights will make way for pedestrian-friendly LED items that are integrated into the bodywork. Later examples of the Diablo had to ditch the pop-up style lights for safety reasons, so this isn't that big of a deal.
The company claims the front end is “completely redesigned,” and the car is wider than before, including extra-wide arches to accommodate a wider track and larger wheels. While this will give the Diablo a more aggressive look, Eccentrica Cars says it wants to eliminate understeer and enhance the handling characteristics. Best of all, this isn't some fiberglass corner-cutting kit; all new panels are painstakingly crafted from aluminum.

Based on the design sketches and early “in progress” images, the rear will vastly differ from the original Diablo. The bulbous rear end makes way for a more modern fascia, replete with prominent air vents and a slanted design. The company has also changed the door line, giving the Diablo thicker sills and a more contemporary side profile.
Gone are the gorgeous three-piece alloy wheels, replaced by larger, more modern-looking items. Based on the images below, we're guessing Eccentrica Cars will offer a variety of designs, but typically in this sort of market segment, money talks, and paying customers get what they want.
Just 2,884 Diablos were produced, and even fewer exist today. Therefore, it's safe to assume production of this restomod will be limited to just a handful of vehicles, with prices likely to exceed the $500,000 mark.

The final product will be revealed in less than two weeks and is bound to attract as much criticism as praise. But, like any good restomod project, we can't wait to see the fine blend between modern enhancements and classic styling.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Countach, Lamborghini decided to bring the supercar back as the LPI 800-4. Closely related to the Aventador (since replaced by the Revuelto) and powered by the hybrid powertrain from the Sian FKP 37, Lamborghini built just 112 units – all of which sold out in less than a week.
With Lamborghini already saying it has no intention of looking at the past for design inspiration, Eccentrica Cars' creation may be the only chance Lambo loyalists may have to get their hands on a modernized Diablo.
