Car enthusiasts, these are the upcoming Maruti cars in India in 2023. Brace yourself and get ready for the take-off!

Maruti has been known for fulfilling the dream of owning a car for many. Its track record of producing affordable and value-for-money cars has both impressed and amazed us. Likewise, 2022 was another exciting year for Maruti, with a plethora of new car launches in a variety of segments.

The brand has enhanced its line-up with a revamp of its best-selling models, including the likes of Baleno, Brezza, and Ertiga. Moreover, while the carmaker has been traditionally inclined towards smaller cars, it seems to be steadily crawling into the SUV segment as well. With this, Maruti is planning to further cement its position in competition from new and emerging players. That being said, we’re sure to have a list of cars to look forward to this year. So, let’s see what’s cooking in Maruti’s future model line-up for the year 2023.

Here are the upcoming Maruti cars in India.

1. Maruti Suzuki Jimny

Starting this list off is the 5-seater Maruti Suzuki Jimny. While the Jimny hasn’t been confirmed officially, spy shots have suggested that it will be powered by a mild hybrid K15B engine mated with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Further, Suzuki’s All grip Pro AWD system will put down all that power to the road through all 4 of its wheels. Thus, it is bound to leave a wide grin on your face when you witness the grip level on offer! Going head-to-head with the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-Door, Jimmy will be the existing car’s 5-door version developed particularly for the Indian market. Its anticipated price of ₹10 lakhs means that it would be an affordable alternative to the Thar and is an apt option for you if you’re in the market for a lifestyle off-roader.

In a nutshell, the car will be a coupe-style cross-hatch, a first for the Maruti brand. A 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is rumoured to be in the works for the car, with a potential mild hybrid setup to give you improved fuel efficiency. The car will be sold via NEXA outlets, and you will likely have to shell out ₹8 lakhs ex-showroom for the base variant.

This is one of the most affordable upcoming Maruti cars to be seen under camouflage ever since 2020. While it is essentially a WagonR in premium clothing, it will feature better interiors and refreshed exteriors. It will also be feature-loaded in terms of technology. Driving this car will grant you automatic climate control, LED headlamps, push-button start-stop along with premium upholstery.

Under the hood, you can expect it to pack a 1.0-litre petrol and a 1.2-litre engine tweaked to deliver more power, similar to the WagonR. Being the premium version of the WagonR, it will be sold under the NEXA brand. If you wish to go premium with the Maruti XL5, you will have to shell out ₹6 Lakh to ₹9 lakhs ex-showroom.

As the name already suggests, the Brezza CNG is essentially the CNG version of the already popular Brezza sub-compact SUV. The Brezza CNG is a great option for you if you’re looking for a blend of style and functionality and, at the same time, want a reliable, factory-fitted CNG kit in your car to beat fuel prices.

Spy shots indicate that there will be no changes to the interior and exterior of the car, with the CNG kit taking up more than half the boot space. While performance is likely to take a toll, this upcoming Maruti car is expected to offer you great mileage at 30 km per kg.

Alongside the 5-speed manual transmission, Maruti may also offer an optional automatic with the CNG powertrain, a first for the brand. As far as price is concerned, it will likely cost ₹1 lakh extra over its petrol counterparts. It will be available in the VXI and ZXI trims only.

Now, Maruti is planning to give the car a CNG update this year. With this, the automaker is eyeing to capture a big chunk of the fuel-conscious buyers who are looking for a well-packaged SUV. You can expect the CNG version of the company’s flagship SUV, the Grand Vitara, to be introduced in the middle of 2023. In petrol mode, its time-tested K15C engine will power the car. With the CNG kit installed, you could drive at the power of 87 Ps and 120 Nm, giving you a mileage rating of 26.10 km/kg.

Talking about variants and pricing, unlike the Hyryder CNG, which is available in only two variants, the Grand Vitara CNG will likely be offered from entry-level trims.
