2024 Skoda Kodiaq
Skoda has revealed its new flagship SUV in Europe ahead of its Australian arrival in 2024.
The second-generation Kodiaq brings new looks, engines and improved tech.
Skoda boss Klaus Zellmer says the new Kodiaq is packed with smart features.
The new Kodiaq is due late next year.
“Our all-new flagship SUV has everything it needs to be a worthy successor in the Skoda Kodiaq line. The new Kodiaq takes the Skoda features our customers appreciate to the next level: more space, more features, and more efficiency,” says Zellmer.
Skoda Australia has confirmed the Kodiaq will arrive with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 150kW, up from 132kW in the current version.
It’ll be powered by a 150kW engine.
There is no word yet if a high-powered RS version will join the range.
The new Kodiaq has a sleeker design that improves its aerodynamics, which in turn helps improve fuel economy. There are sensible body creases, roof rails and LED matrix headlights.
A horizontal light strip along the top of the front grille adds some character to the Kodiaq’s face.
The next-generation Kodiaq is bigger in nearly every direction. A longer wheelbase – the distance between the front and rear wheels – will help liberate more space in the cabin.
A recent ride along in the new Kodiaq prototype in Germany backs up these claims with the vehicle packing oodles of rear seat room.
The cabin has stepped up in class.
Step inside and passengers are greeted by a hi-tech cabin with plenty of Skoda’s smart design features.
There are two digital screens: a 13-inch infotainment and a 10-inch driver’s instrument display.
Skoda has installed three “smart dials” in the centre console. These physical dials can be customised to control numerous figures including climate functions, driving modes, map zoom and infotainment volume.
It’s bigger and roomier than before.
It’ll also have massaging seats and a “phone box” that can wirelessly charge two devices at once.
Skoda has also kitted out the Kodiaq with lots of recycled materials throughout the cabin.
The headliner, carpet and seat upholstery are made from 100 per cent recycled polyester.
Buyers can also choose leather upholstery that the brand says has been prepared in an environmentally friendly way using residue from coffee bean processing.
Australian specification hasn’t been finalised but adaptive suspension, remote parking and increased safety tech are available.
