Ram has officially confirmed the electric version of its hero truck, with the Ram 1500 REV finally confirmed for production.
Ram still hasn’t confirmed specification for the 1500 REV, which will go into production next year and appear in American showrooms in late 2024, but Ram CEO Mike Korval Jr said the REV would surpass electric trucks from rival brands, without specifically naming utes like the Ford F-150 Lightning and the upcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV.
“We are on an exciting electrification journey that will see Ram push past the competition in areas customers care about the most: range, payload, towing and charge time.”
It’s not clear how literal Korval Jr is being, but if he does mean it, the REV will need to top the estimated 640km range the Silverado is claimed to have, its 4.5 tonne towing capacity, and its 350kW charge rate, all these claims besting the F-150’s specifications.
The Ram Revolution concept that signposted the arrival of the REV features an 800-volt system that allows super-fast charging at up to 350kW, with a claimed 161km of range in just 10 minutes of charging.

“For a one-time $100 refundable fee, the program unlocks privileges that include a chance to reserve a place in line for pre-order.”
It’s unlikely Australia will see the electric version immediately, however, as local right-hand-drive versions are remanufactured by Walkinshaw in Melbourne. The Ram 1500 REV made its debut in a commercial set for the Super Bowl, with a tongue-in-cheek theme of allaying concerns about the shift to EVs called ‘Premature Electrification’.
