The brand’s first all-electric SUV will make use of the new Premium Platform Electric underpinnings
Considering that Porsche’s Macan EV has been a project in the public eye for several years now, it’s of little surprise that the German brand is divulging details.
According to Autocar UK, Porsche hopes that this Macan EV will become the sportiest vehicle in its class, taking the fight to potential rivals such as the Jaguar I-Pace and the Tesla Model Y Performance.

What will power the Macan EV?
The Macan EV is set to sit on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and use a dual-motor powertrain, sending drive to all four wheels.
Improvements to the magnet arrangement in the motors has reportedly allowed Porsche to increase power outputs, with the Macan EV potentially capable of a rumoured 449kW/1000Nm.
It’s still unclear as to whether or not the Macan EV will get the same overboost function that pushes the Taycan Turbo S to 560kW/1049Nm.
The Macan EV will be the first Porsche to sit on PPE underpinnings
Performance numbers still haven’t been revealed, but it’s likely that the fastest Macan won’t be far off the range-topping Taycan Turbo S. With overboost, the Taycan Turbo S is able to hit 100km/h from a standing start in 2.8 seconds.
According to the Macan EV’s chassis manager Dominik Hartmann, the SUV will also get a ‘performance rear axle’ which pushes the electric motor as far rearward as possible. Not only does this mimic the engine location in the 911, which sits behind the rear wheels, but it also will give the Macan EV a weight distribution of 48:52 divided front to rear.
What about battery and charging details?
The Macan EV will come standard with a 100kWh battery across all variants, but a range prediction wasn’t given.
The Macan EV has previously been spotted testing in public
In the Taycan, the optional 93kWh battery is good for up to 505 kilometres from a single charge, so we can expect this to be improved with the Macan EV.
On the charging front, the PPE’s 800-volt architecture allows for charging rates of up to 270kW, which will make the Macan one of the fastest-charging EVs on the market.
