The base model weighs in at a palatable $49,900, but the dual-motor variant goes up in price.
The 2024 Polestar 2 will arrive in showrooms with an appealing starting price of $49,900, just below the $50k psychological barrier.
Polestar's entry-level crossover, which was first launched in 2020, received a facelift for the 2024 model year. Changes include a more powerful single-motor derivative with 299 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque. Like its Volvo-badged siblings, the C40 and XC40 Recharge, the base variant now sends power to the rear wheels.
With a new permanent magnet motor and silicon carbide inverter, the RWD Polestar 2 benefits from a 68-hp boost and a healthy torque increase of 118 lb-ft compared to its front-wheel-drive predecessor. As a result, sprinting to 60 mph now takes just 5.9 seconds. Buyers will be pleased to know the Polestar 2 single motor can now travel up to 320 miles on a single charge, beating out the original 300-mile estimate.

Should you require more power and performance, you will have to fork out $55,300 for the dual-motor model. Nearly $5,000 pricier than before, the range-topper justifies its bigger price tag with additional standard features and more power.
The Polestar 2 dual motor has 13 extra horses and 79 additional lb-ft of torque, compared to last year's figures of 421 hp/546 lb-ft. This sprightlier model retails its all-wheel-drive setup, but Polestar has reconfigured the system to have a rear-drive bias. 0-60 mph is dealt with in 4.3 seconds, but an optional Performance Pack reduces this figure to 4.1. This sportier model has an EPA-rated range estimate of 276 miles.
As for the additional standard kit, the dual motor model now benefits from Pilot Pack (previously a $3,400 option). This safety package includes adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, and cross-traffic alert.

The 2024 Polestar 2 carries retains the good looks of the pre-facelift model, but the automaker has tweaked things slightly to keep it looking fresh. The EV no longer has a faux radiator grille. In its place is the “SmartZone” first seen on the larger Polestar 3. This panel is where you'll find an array of safety features, such as the front-facing camera.
Polestar says the refreshed 2 is eligible for the IRA Clean Vehicle credit, giving customers $7,500 back on lease transactions. Deliveries are expected to kick off in August, and all prices listed here are exclusive of Polestar's $1,400 destination fee.
Polestar's range is set to grow in the coming years, but there have been several hiccups along the way. Development issues have pushed the introduction of the Polestar 3 further back, with reports suggesting the premium electric SUV will only enter production in the first quarter of 2024. Hopefully, the 2 will tide buyers over in the meanwhile.
