But Chevy has made up for the price hike with more standard features.
The configurator for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox is officially live. The GM-owned brand has bestowed the crossover with minor updates for the new model year, along with a marginal MSRP hike for certain trim levels. Before we get into the changes, let's look at what consumers care about most: the pricing.
Buyers of the LS will be pleased to know the entry-level trim soldiers on without a cost increase. The front-wheel drive derivative retails for $26,600, while the AWD version sells for $28,200. If you want to step up to the LT, you'll have to fork out a bit more than before. The 2023 LT FWD retails for $27,700, making the 2024 equivalent $1,795 more expensive. An LT AWD is available at $31,095.
Next up is the RS grade, which is only slightly more pricer than before. The 2024 RS is priced at $30,950 for the FWD and $32,550 for the AWD.

The range-topping Premier FWD model retains its $31,800 MSRP, and so does the Premier AWD, which is priced at $33,400 for MY2024. It's worth noting that all prices listed here are exclusive of Chevrolet's $1,395 destination charge.
It's also worth noting Chevrolet also adjusted pricing for the 2024 Malibu sedan.
So what's changed? The LT now receives the Confidence and Convenience Package as standard, which includes several nice-to-haves such as rear cross-traffic alert, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, lane change assist, and remote start. This was previously a $1,595 option on the 2023 model. The RS also benefits from enhanced safety features.
The exterior receives no aesthetic updates, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it would have been nice for Chevy to refresh the generic styling.

If you're expecting an updated exterior or more power under the hood, you're going to be very disappointed. The Equinox soldiers on with the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the driven wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission, which feels a touch old-fashioned compared to certain rivals. 0-60 mph is dispatched in a pedestrian 8.5 seconds. Last year's update brought a trifle more power, but we still miss the more potent 2.0-liter model.
The Equinox is an inoffensive offering, but we can't see buyers flocking to showrooms to buy one. The new Equinox EV, on the other hand, is a different story. Revealed last year with an appealing price tag, impressive range, and respectable performance, it makes its gas-powered sibling look dull by comparison.
