Bentley has already done a lot of good work with the Continental GT, and just last month we were singing the praises of the recently-introduced GT Speed model, with updated chassis work and a better power-to-weight ratio than most Bentleys before it. Now the automaker has taken that development a step further, introducing a flagship range-topper in the 2023 Bentley Continental GT Mulliner that offers a little more of everything.
The Continental GT range now includes the Azure line, S line, Sport line, and at the top sits this new Mulliner. The new flagship builds upon the established improvements of the Sport, featuring its all-wheel steering system, electronic limited slip diff, torque-vectoring (by brake), an active all-wheel drive system, and a 48V anti-roll system. It also features a three-chamber active air suspension and can be fitted with optional carbon ceramic brakes. Like the GT Sport, the GT Mulliner’s Bentley and Comfort drive modes split torque between the front and rear wheels more evenly, where the Sport drive mode is more rear-biased.
To spot a Mulliner on the street, look for the new double diamond matrix grille, silver and black fender vents, and either chrome or black trim treatments including the mirror caps. The 6.0-liter W-12 engine is good for 650 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, with a top speed of 208 mph and a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, offering a 4 percent increase in horsepower over the stock W-12. If you’d rather, a Continental GT Mulliner V8 is available, but who would want to forgo the top engine in the ultimate Conti?
There are eight different three-color combinations for the interior, with a primary and secondary hide joined by a third in a flowing design line, which should add some nice contrast. Or customers can opt to go with one of the other leather combinations from the rest of the range. The diamond-pattern seat stitching features 712 individual stitches per diamond, in an embroidery process Bentley says took 18 months to develop, and there are multiple stitch colors to choose from. There are also Mulliner logos on the seats, with either an indented or smooth hide roof if customers don’t option the fixed glass roof, and the center console comes with a choice of 88 piano wood veneers.
The new GT Mulliner will make its public debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb, from June 23 to June 26.
