Toyota subtly updates its compact RAV4 for 2022. Here’s what makes it different for the new model year.
Toyota 1 of 6 Heed the Headlights
Save for the entry-level LE trim, all 2022 Toyota RAV4s feature updated headlamps that trade last year’s C-shaped decorative lighting elements for stacked LEDs. The new lamps make the RAV4 look as though it has a furrowed brow, and add a hint of additional aggression to most RAV4 and RAV4 hybrid models.
Toyota 2 of 6 A New Trim
The sporty—by RAV4 standards, at least—Toyota RAV4 XSE hybrid welcomes a lower-spec SE sibling for 2022. Like the $36,270 XSE, the $32,945 SE hybrid shares its pricier counterpart’s distinct styling, 18-inch wheels, and a manual mode for its electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. Cost savings, however, come courtesy of the SE hybrid’s strictly monotone paint job, fabric-covered seats, and 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen.
Toyota 3 of 6 XSE Excess
Opting for the RAV4 XSE hybrid nets a two-tone exterior paint job that incorporates a black roof and mirror housings, as well as faux leather seats, a standard 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment setup, and a set of fascia-mounted vertical lighting elements, the latter of which are new for 2022.
Toyota 4 of 6 Wheel Good
Toyota fits RAV4 hybrid models in XLE Premium, Limited, and XSE guises with new wheel designs for 2022. The latter trim shares these 18-inch black wheels with the new-for-2022 RAV4 SE hybrid.
Toyota 5 of 6 Send in the Calvary
A new hue called Calvary Blue is freshly available on the gasoline-electric 2022 Toyota RAV4 SE and XSE trims, as well as the gas-only, RAV4 TRD Off-Road.
Toyota 6 of 6 Inner Visions
Toyota fits every RAV4 with a locking glovebox and LED interior lighting for 2022, while all but the base LE models now include illuminated switches within the cabin. Additionally, the RAV4 Limited adds an eight-way power passenger seat.
