Toyota’s US subsidiary will release a limited special version of the GR Supra at the start of the 2022 model year. The sports vehicle gets a multi-part carbon fiber makeover and a hefty price tag to match. The slogan “Standing still means going backwards” is very important in the automobile business.
That is why, in order to keep them “up to date,” some models are updated every year. For example, the Toyota GR Supra had only been on the market in the United States for approximately a year when the Japanese agency there arranged for the company’s own racing and sports vehicle maker Gazoo Racing to modify its performance.
Not only should the carbon package improve the aesthetics, but it should also improve the aerodynamics.
And, while the three-liter in-line six-cylinder turbo gasoline engine’s output in Europe has stayed constant at 340 horsepower since its introduction, it has subsequently surpassed 387 horsepower on the other side of the Atlantic. After all, there is a tie in terms of maximum torque (500 Newton meters), despite the fact that the maximum torque in the United States was five Newton meters lower until this makeover. At the same time, the 2021 Supras received a firmer chassis, as well as revised steering, adaptive chassis, active differential, and electronic control system features.
The A91-CF Edition is limited to 600 vehicles.
For the 2022 model year, Toyota USA is redesigning the GR Supra’s appearance. However, this isn’t the case throughout the entire series:
The A91-CF Edition, limited to 600 units, will be offered exclusively in the United States beginning in autumn 2021 – the most exclusive special series for the US market to date. The important letters in the model designation clauses are C and F: That stands for “Carbon Fiber” – the GR Supra will have plenty of carbon fiber, which Toyota claims will serve both optical and aerodynamic functions.
The GR Supra’s iconic ducktail tail gets a carbon spoiler lip.
A new splitter hangs beneath the front apron on the special versions, giving it a distinctive appearance on the sides: it bends at the bottom and otherwise runs upwards in the shape of a shark fin along the front wheel arches.
The side skirts replicate this design on the flanks, while the rear apron is improved with identical air control components on the sides. The spoiler lip for the tailgate, however, is the highlight of the carbon set; with it, the unique supra-duck-tail rises even higher.
Special rims, exclusive color
The Toyota GR Supra A91-CF Edition, which has yet to be priced, sports matt black 19-inch wheels and a distinctive matt gray paint finish as additional visual characteristics. As color choices, Absolute Zero White and Nitro Yellow are offered. In the spacious interior, which is furnished with leather and Alcantara, Toyota, on the other hand, offers no options: the only color combination available is red-black, with embroidery on the electrically adjustable seats, carbon strips, sports pedals, and an animal-skin-covered sports steering wheel.
The normal GR Supras will also benefit from the 2022 model year’s new features. All six-cylinder models will now come standard with heated seats, and a red interior will be available as an option in the future.
If you choose for the large audio system, you may use Apple Carplay to connect your smartphone to the on-board entertainment system. Toyota will provide a better equipped driver aid kit for all Supra models as an option in the future.
For a year, you may join NASA for free.
The Toyota GR Supra A91-CF Edition has a starting price of $ 63,280. (equivalent to almost 56,000 euros). In the United States, the lowest six-cylinder variant starts at 51,640 dollars (around 45,700 euros). In addition, the fee includes a complimentary one-year NASA membership. The National Auto Sport Association, not the United States Space Agency. A one-day driver training session on the racetrack is included as part of the membership.
The Toyota GR Supra A91-CF Edition is only available in the United States. But in our nation, you don’t have to feel envious because the Jarama Racetrack Edition has several of the carbon pieces seen. This is even more limited: just 90 copies will be distributed throughout Europe. This version, however, is more expensive: it costs 64,400 euros in Germany.
