This retiree did a double-take when she saw the Venue’s unique exterior
Nancy Beddoe only required a quarter of a second to decide which car she was going to drive away in. The former manager of seniors’ services with the Town of Oakville had hoped to celebrate her recent retirement with a new car but placed that dream on hold at the onset of the pandemic. Turning onto Hyundai of Oakville lot, where her husband was having his winter tires changed, she immediately glimpsed a two-tone SUV. Beddoe made up her mind immediately; it was exactly what she wanted. She tells us why she loves her 2021 Hyundai Venue Trend.
“I had zero expectations of getting a new car on the day my husband suggested I tag along to the dealership,” said Beddoe, who purchased her Hyundai Venue in April. “Up to that point I had been dreaming of a Mazda because I loved the shade of their red vehicles, but then I saw this car I made up my mind instantly. I had to have it.
“The blue and white two-tone really drew me in, and when I got into the car, I liked its big, sort of boxy feel and its size. The all-around visibility from the inside looking out also helped to seal the deal as I didn’t want anything that I would feel too claustrophobic in.
“I’ll be using the Venue mostly just as a day-to-day car to visit with my mother and to run errands and such. We have two pets – a rat named Saoirse and a parrot named Jimmy — so I’m sure I’ll be using it to pick up supplies for them. I think, overall, I’m most excited for the trips I’ll eventually take to see friends and reconnect with them. And to get together with my girlfriends and go running and to take trips to the pool.
“I have to say that I’ve owned five cars in my life and have never felt this way about another vehicle. Sure, it drives nicely and all, but honestly, I just love the way it looks” Beddoe said. “The funny thing is, I read somewhere that the Venue was designed with a younger driver in mind. Since this is my retirement gift for myself, that really made me laugh.”
